Mental disorder
Mental disorders are something common in our society, and that is not weird because we have high levels of stress and our quality of life is getting worse. But sometimes we can born with some kind of mental disorder or just develop it in some part of our life.
But what happens when you can't have an only identity or you just can't be yourself because there's more personalities in conflict? That is the case of the dissociative identity disorder.
Dissociative identity disorder is a condition where the identity of the person is fragmented into two or more distinct personality states. People who has suffered personality disorder describe that sensation as a possession and has memory loss in some cases.
The individual experiences two or more identities in conflict to get control and involves a deep change in behaviour, memory, perception and the agency in general.
In other hand, the disorder is often related with a several trauma or sexual abuse in childhood which suggest that is the cause that female population is prone to have it.
There's no medications that specifically treats the disorder, for that reason, the primary treatment for people who suffer from this disorder is psychotherapy, where all of the identities are deconstructed and then united into one.
The impact in work, family and the society in general is that the people with DID suddenly become a depersonalized observer, or they can't control their speeches and actions, all of that makes difficult to develop in different areas and personal relationships.
